Emergency Exit

Ozone

Instead of flooding boards and blogs with news about bad psp games or strange xmb mods, I decided to post about the crystals in the giant quarry of psp homebrew. I want to do this as an act of respect for developers and to inform the readers which games are really worth to take a look. There is a flood of games, so how to find good games? If the game is written in LUA, skip it. It is a good script language and not all psp LUA games are bad in general, but the chance to find a good one … well you can better play in the lottery. If the screenshots does not look promising, the game is proprably not good. Those two criterias will sort out the most games and you can try the rest.

Ozone is from GearDome is one of those pearls. A pretty easy game concept paired with nice graphics and perfect sound.

Who’s next?

Posted in PSP by McZonk on the July 10th, 2007

Since I have a few days of exams break. I did a lot of Quake 2 stuff. I have added my dedicated server to the address book in the second beta and so a lot of people played against each other. Even if the server is not online permanent it solved the problem of finding no opponents. I joined the server pretty often to test some new builds. There is a bot playing on the server. So you are not alone.

I coded, tested and played the whole day. And the third beta will come pretty quickly because I made major performance step in optimizing a lot of stuff and now can play a stable 30 frames per second, Instead of 15 to 20 at the moment. When the fps rate is stable you can try some trick jumps. I finally succeded the jump to mega health on “The Edge” today. This will also decrease the ping times.

If you want to play and the server is not running, join the chat. Also a good idea to idle there when you want to play regularly.
Thanks for all the people out there enjoying this game!

Five funny things you can do with the unused keys

In my Quake 2 PSP configuration I have used all keys except one. Here is what I need: move (4 keys), shoot, jump, crouch, next weapon and prev weapon. But there is one key left for other things. So what you can do with this left key. In my configuration it is the up arrow.

Quake 2 Multiplayer - Second Beta

Posted in PSP by McZonk on the July 8th, 2007

I am one of those geek who code for relaxing. My girl is in holidays and between the exams I really need some relaxing. So I am working on Quake 2 in the free time. When I decided to continue the work, I knew that exams will be soon. So I want to start after them and I said the first release will be in august. But as every semester I hate learning and instead I doing tons of other stuff like practice guitar playing or even tidy up and cleaning the desk.
I fixed a lot of bugs and added some features in Quake 2. And now it is time to release the second multiplayer beta. I still focus on multiplayer, because I think this is the more capable type of gameplay for the psp.
Here is another video from Stranno playing against his friend and me.

Spoiler: Quake 2 Multiplayer - Second Beta

Posted in PSP by McZonk on the July 4th, 2007

Even if I am in the middle of my exams, I use my rare spare time to code on Quake 2. This prevents me from getting crazy during all the boring stuff I feed my brain with. I hope to release a new beta at the weekend.
Here is a video recorded from Stranno playing against his friend ToNio (EmergencyExit) and me (Zonk) on The Edge (q2dm1). We all played on a private pc server with our psps. It was a pretty nice game. Greets to Elotrolado and all spanish speaking psp users.
